The difference between Oblivion and Skyrim is that in Oblivion, it was up to the player to arch the shot by aiming high. It's also the same for archery, even archery of old. The angles are exaggerated in the pic but the principle is the same. Jessica Phoenix Posts: 3420 Joined: Sat 8:49 am gameplay vids rarely do any game justice. you cant hold you bow forever and you arrow actually drops in flight so you have to aim above enemies to hit them and the arrows are more likely to be deflected because of wind. mount and blade has it about as close to when i did archery years ago. you can hold you bow forever, there is virtually no sway and your arrows barely deviate off course if at all. Skyrims archery is about as realistic as the elves and dragons themselves.total fantasy. It looks 'ok' but I think I still prefere Skyrim. I did watch some mount and blade archery vids. Dragon breath can kill me in a couple seconds without healing potions.
I really feel like Legolas (in a good way!) Maybe it gets overpowered later on, but right now I can be killed in 1-2 hits by most enemies.
It is hands down the funnest TES mechanics thus far. The more I play, the more I love Skyrim's archery.
